Under the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) interventions, significant progress and community engagement are evident across two major infrastructure schemes in Uba Debre Tsehay Woreda, alongside planned contributions in Abala Abaya Woreda:
- Comprehensive Human Health Post Construction: Located 24 km from the woreda center, this facility serves three rural kebeles Galada, Zeqa Zelto, and Yela Shabbo. Community members contributed sand, stone, water supply for construction, and labor for excavation, representing an estimated in-kind and labor value of 2,499,000 ETB.
- Spring and Water Development: Implemented in Zaba Kebele to serve a densely populated community of 19,594 residents, this project features a 50 m³ reservoir capacity, a 5.65 km distance from the spring capping, and a total of 12 water points (8 newly constructed and 4 rehabilitated/maintained). Local community support comprising sand, stone, water supply, and excavation labor—is valued at 495,500 ETB.
Across these two schemes in Uba Debre Tsehay, total community contribution reached 2,994,500 ETB. Additionally, in Abala Abaya Woreda, the community is mobilized to provide locally available materials and labor during the upcoming construction phases.
